The
wondrous and simple artwork known as “Lolly Sticks” by
artist Kym Bowles is already getting recognition in a variety
of markets including stationery and gift.
The concept is best explained in Kym’s own words… “I
have tried to evoke simple lines with a whimsical charm that
together has created an elegance and sophistication that
can be enjoyed by all, young and old. The idea really evolved
from
wanting to have characters that were anonymous yet charming
and elegantly long and tall.”
Kym lives in an old 1873 quaint schoolhouse that backs on
to the original quintessential English country school in
the country setting of Lancashire. Married with two delightful
young children, Kym draws inspiration from this wonderful
setting and family life.
Kym recognized from an early age that a career in illustration
had always been her main aim in life – writing an illustrating
her own children’s books being her ultimate goal.
After studying in Art College in the picturesque northern
English countryside, Kym worked for several advertising agencies.
With a desire to design and paint from her own imagination
Kym decided to leave corporate life behind and work from
her own home studio. In quick time, Kym became well established
and very well recognized in the stationery markets as a freelance
designer.
